Publication Ethics

Maintaining integrity in scholarly publishing

Publication Ethics

Columbia Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. Our policies are based on COPE's (Committee on Publication Ethics) Core Practices.

Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work.

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Where materials have been used from other sources, they must be appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review and should be prepared to provide public access to such data, if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo rigorous peer review by at least two independent experts in the field. Columbia Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences employs a double-blind peer review process where both reviewers and authors are anonymized.

Ethical Oversight

For studies involving human subjects, authors must include a statement confirming that the study was approved by an appropriate ethics committee and that informed consent was obtained from all participants. For animal studies, authors must confirm that appropriate ethical approval was granted.

Allegations of Misconduct

Columbia Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences will rigorously investigate allegations of research or publication misconduct. When ethical concerns are raised, we follow COPE flowcharts and may contact institutions, funders, or regulatory bodies as appropriate.

Complaints and Appeals

Columbia Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences has a clear procedure for handling complaints against the journal, its staff, editorial board, or publisher. Complaints should be directed to the Editor-in-Chief and will be investigated promptly.
