Aims & Scope

Science for productive farms and healthy ecosystems, linking agronomy with environmental stewardship.

The Columbia Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences publishes research that improves how we grow food while safeguarding the natural systems on which agriculture depends. Our scope covers crop and soil science, agronomy and plant protection, animal production, water management, and the wider ecology that surrounds productive land.

We welcome field, laboratory, and modelling studies on sustainable and precision agriculture, integrated pest and nutrient management, biodiversity conservation, pollution monitoring and remediation, and the climate adaptation strategies that farming communities urgently need. Work connecting agricultural practice to food security, rural livelihoods, and agribusiness is strongly encouraged.

Manuscripts are evaluated for experimental rigour, ecological relevance, and the practical value of their conclusions for farmers, agronomists, environmental managers, and policymakers. As an open-access journal we are committed to disseminating evidence that helps balance the competing demands of productivity, profitability, and long-term environmental health, particularly in regions most exposed to land degradation and a changing climate.

The journal accepts original field and laboratory studies, modelling papers, and focused reviews, as well as short communications reporting timely findings. We encourage research that states its agronomic or ecological context clearly and quantifies real-world impact. Through open access, our work reaches agronomists, environmental scientists, extension officers, and policymakers, particularly in regions where evidence-based guidance can make the difference between degradation and sustainable, productive land use.
