Aims & Scope

Atmospheric science, weather prediction, and climate research for a rapidly changing planet.

The Journal of Climate Science and Meteorology is devoted to understanding the atmosphere and the climate system across scales — from the physics of individual storms to the dynamics of decadal and centennial change. We publish observational, theoretical, and modelling studies that improve our ability to describe, explain, and anticipate atmospheric behaviour.

Topics within scope include atmospheric dynamics and thermodynamics, numerical weather prediction and nowcasting, climate variability and projection, extreme events such as droughts, floods, and tropical cyclones, and the coupling between atmosphere, ocean, and land. Contributions on remote sensing, data assimilation, air quality, and the design of climate services that translate science into decisions are especially valued.

We assess submissions on the quality of their data and methods, the robustness of their uncertainty analysis, and their contribution to forecasting skill or climate understanding. Through open access the journal supports meteorologists, climate scientists, and the planners and communities who depend on reliable atmospheric knowledge to manage risk in a warming world.

We publish original research, methodological advances, and review articles, alongside shorter contributions on notable events or datasets. Authors are encouraged to make data and code available so that analyses can be reproduced and forecasts independently assessed. Available open access, the journal serves atmospheric and climate scientists, operational forecasters, and the planners, insurers, and communities who depend on accurate weather and climate information to prepare for an uncertain future.
