Understanding content usage rights

Copyright Policy

Columbia Journal of Engineering and Technology follows an open access publishing model where all articles are made freely available online immediately upon publication. This section outlines the copyright policy that applies to all content published in our journal.

Author Rights

Upon submission, authors retain the copyright of their work while granting Columbia Journal of Engineering and Technology the right of first publication. After acceptance, authors grant Columbia Journal of Engineering and Technology a license to publish the article under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license.

This license allows others to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially

The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as users follow the license terms.

Attribution Requirement

Users must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. This may be done in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses the user or their use.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring their work does not infringe upon existing copyrights. By submitting to Columbia Journal of Engineering and Technology, authors warrant that their work is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
