Aims & Scope

Original engineering research and applied technology that turn analytical insight into working systems.

The Columbia Journal of Engineering and Technology reports advances across the engineering disciplines and the applied sciences that underpin them. We publish original research articles, design studies, and validated technical reviews in mechanical, civil, electrical, electronic, and materials engineering, as well as the computational methods that increasingly drive them.

The journal values work that connects theory to practice: new analytical or numerical models accompanied by experimental verification, novel materials and manufacturing processes, control and automation strategies, and energy systems engineered for efficiency and resilience. We particularly encourage interdisciplinary contributions where robotics, embedded systems, or data-driven methods meet a concrete engineering problem.

Authors are expected to state assumptions clearly, document methods so results can be reproduced, and quantify performance against meaningful baselines. Through open access we aim to give practising engineers, researchers, and graduate students rapid access to dependable, deployable knowledge that supports innovation in industry and the public infrastructure on which it depends.

Contributions may take the form of original research papers, validated design and development studies, or critical technical reviews. We ask authors to support claims with experimental or numerical evidence and to report enough detail for others to reproduce their results. Published open access, the journal serves practising engineers, researchers, and graduate students seeking dependable methods they can adapt to the industry and infrastructure challenges of their own work.
