Aims & Scope
Research in insurance, actuarial science, and the measurement and management of financial risk.
The Insurance and Financial Risk Journal is devoted to the science and practice of managing uncertainty. We publish research in actuarial science, insurance economics, and quantitative risk management, covering how risks are identified, priced, transferred, and held across insurance and financial markets.
Our scope includes actuarial modelling, underwriting and pricing, reserving and solvency, reinsurance, asset-liability management, and the assessment of catastrophe, longevity, and emerging risks such as cyber and climate exposure. We welcome both rigorous quantitative methods and studies of insurance markets, products, and regulation, and we encourage work connecting risk theory to real portfolios and decisions.
Submissions are evaluated for technical soundness, the realism of their assumptions, and their relevance to actuaries, risk managers, insurers, and regulators. By publishing open access, the journal aims to strengthen the analytical foundations of risk management and to support resilient insurance and financial systems that protect individuals, firms, and economies against adverse events.
Submissions may be quantitative, empirical, or applied, including actuarial modelling, risk analysis, and studies of insurance markets, products, and regulation. We expect realistic assumptions, sound technique, and conclusions relevant to real portfolios. Published open access, the journal reaches actuaries, risk managers, insurers, and regulators, strengthening the analytical foundations of risk management and supporting financial and insurance systems that remain resilient when adverse events strike.
