Aims & Scope

A peer-reviewed, open-access home for rigorous clinical and biomedical research that informs everyday medical practice.

The Columbia Journal of Medical Research and Practice publishes original investigations that bridge laboratory discovery and the bedside. We seek work that strengthens the evidence base of clinical decision-making — randomized controlled trials, prospective cohort and case-control studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and carefully documented case series that illuminate uncommon presentations or therapeutic dilemmas.

Our scope spans the breadth of human medicine, from internal medicine, surgery, and the diagnostic specialties to public health and preventive care. We are equally interested in translational science that explains mechanism and in pragmatic studies that change how clinicians practice. Submissions on health-services delivery, patient safety, quality improvement, and medical education are welcome where they advance measurable outcomes.

Every manuscript is assessed for methodological soundness, ethical conduct, clarity of reporting, and relevance to practising physicians and biomedical scientists. By offering immediate open access, the journal aims to accelerate the movement of reliable findings into clinical guidelines and patient care across high-, middle-, and low-resource settings alike.

We welcome original research articles, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, concise brief reports, and instructive case studies, together with commentaries on emerging therapies and health-systems research. Every submission undergoes rigorous, impartial peer review, and accepted work is made freely available the moment it is published, helping practising physicians, residents, and biomedical investigators apply trustworthy evidence at the point of care without subscription barriers.
