Abstract

<p>Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a widespread, complex chronic disease that poses substantial global health, economic, and social challenges. As its prevalence continues to rise, so do its associated complications, notably diabetic foot conditions, which are among the most debilitating and costly outcomes of DM. These complications significantly contribute to morbidity, mortality, and decreased quality of life, often resulting in infection, ulceration, and lower limb amputation if not effectively managed.</p>
<p>This paper emphasizes the critical role of early detection, comprehensive assessment, and multidisciplinary intervention in preventing and managing diabetic foot complications. A proactive approach involving routine foot examinations, patient education, proper footwear, and glycemic control is essential to reduce the risk of severe outcomes. Furthermore, the integration of a multiprofessional healthcare team—including nurses, physicians, podiatrists, and educators—is vital to delivering holistic, patient-centered care.</p>
<p>Preventive strategies, combined with structured education and timely intervention, have demonstrated effectiveness in lowering the incidence of diabetic foot ulcers and amputations. By fostering collaboration across healthcare disciplines and prioritizing patient education, health systems can mitigate the personal and systemic burden of diabetic foot disease.</p>
