Abstract

The evolution of wireless systems towards next-generation standards is poised to revolutionize Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) with a multitude of applications ranging from broadband digital communications to real-time video security. Among the proposed techniques for enhancing wireless communication, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) stands out for its ability to transmit data efficiently over challenging channels while maintaining high data rates and low complexity. Next-generation cellular systems hold the promise of achieving substantially higher cell throughput and enhanced spectral efficiency compared to existing technologies like GSM, EDGE, and High-Speed Packet Access R.7 (HSPA+). This paper explores the potential of next-generation wireless systems in facilitating advanced applications for ITS, highlighting the role of OFDM and advancements in cellular technologies.
